It seems that some people, or in this case some school districts, will never learn their lesson. This past Thursday, Dallas ISD authorized a boys-only school field trip for 5,000 fifth-grade students to see the movie Red Tails. The movie, starring Cuba Gooding Junior and Terrence Howard is the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of black male pilots who flew missions in World War II.
The district chose this movie as part of their Black History Month curriculum. The real controversy comes not from the choice of movie though, but from the choice by district officials to exclude the girls and to use federal funds in the process.
